The University of the West Indies (UWI) has always stood as a beacon of knowledge; producing world-class research and thought leadership that has shaped the Caribbean and influenced the global academic landscape. This enduring legacy and proud tradition of excellence will be on full display at The UWI Mona Research Day 2026, scheduled for March 26, 2026.
For over two decades, Research Day at The UWI Mona has been a flagship event, providing a dynamic platform to highlight ground-breaking research and its tangible impact on national and regional development. The 2026 staging will continue this tradition by spotlighting research that drives innovation, informs public policy, and advances meaningful societal change.
Held under the theme “Future-proofing Jamaica and the Caribbean: Research for Resilience, Revenue and Regional Leadership,” Research Day 2026 will offer an immersive and engaging experience for attendees. Visitors can expect thought-provoking research exhibits, interactive displays, insightful panel discussions, and a special Pitch to Donors session, where researchers and innovators will present research-driven solutions for potential funding and partnership. Throughout the day, various faculties will host interactive displays and events, including marine touch tanks, math quizzes, puzzles, and multimedia presentations by the Faculties of Medical Sciences, Law and Social Sciences, among others.
The day’s activities will culminate in the prestigious Principal’s Research Awards Ceremony, which recognises outstanding research excellence across disciplines. The ceremony also serves as a vital forum for strengthening collaboration among researchers, industry leaders, policymakers, and other stakeholders committed to leveraging knowledge for sustainable development.
As The UWI Mona continues to advance research excellence and transformative advocacy, Research Day 2026 invites students, faculty, industry leaders, government officials, and members of the public to experience first-hand how academic research is shaping Jamaica’s and the Caribbean’s future.
Join us as we celebrate research excellence, explore ground-breaking ideas, and drive development through knowledge, innovation, and advocacy.
